okay, so i totally missed the recording concert because i was in the hospital.. freaking SUCKS. our school got a grammy thing whatever though. when we get recordings, i'll send them by you.
but we still has no cds! we're making another recording in a week, i have no clue how long getting cds to us is going to take.
we ordered our shirts in the beginning of the year (late august) and STILL haven't gotten them. dumb council kids dont' know what the hell they're doin.
SO HOW ARE U
my orch just had our concert yesterday, so when we get cds i'll send you the tracks ^_^
it might be a couple weeks though.. we might not make that concert into a cd and instead produce our next concert (in a week and a half? same repertoire, just different hall).
it sounded pretty goood except for some english horn and trumpet flukes! :)
ah, my parents pay for my flute lessons. thank god since i have to pay for a ton of other stuff myself. harhar and most of her students including me only take lessons once every two weeks instead of once every week. shes really really good though, quite the reputation and studied at the paris conservatory and everything.
i live in cali, so most definitely the UC schools, one state, and one private (local). lol i dont really want to go to any of the UC's unless i get into a good one. im actually (kind of) considering going to community college for one year and try to cram 2 years worth of units into 1, then transfer. i dont like staying at home though. ): ): ):
oklahoma ^_^
i love texas, but i cannoott wait to get out of the house.
how the hell do you pay for your flute lessons?! x_x and what colleges are you checking out anyway?
haha yeah basically. i know several really good musicians at my school that are in really prestigious symphonies around here, but none of them are in the programs at school. yes, we just suck that much.
yeah i was thinking about minoring in graphic design AND music, but i'll have to see how that goes...I DONT EVEN KNOW IF I CAN GET INTO A GOOD COLLEGE bahh
oh no, those werent piano lessons. those are my current FLUTE lessons. x_x i know, so much money going down the drain. which is why ill feel bad if i dont do something with music.
ou? oberlin? ohio?
mm and i havent really made plans for my actual major hehe. i know for sure it wont have anything to do with science! i hate chem with a passion. probably somewhere along the lines of business, though communications and public relations is sticking out to me too. haha but then again, i'll probably end up changing my major 230948230 times cause im like...the most indecisive person EVER.
talented, somewhat. good, not yet. i'm getting there though!
my school is kinda funky. the arts, esp music, have a great reputation here but i really think it's not that good. meh! so are all the good people at your school doing private study and not the music programs at school?
i strongly encourage you to minor in music if you like it all :) if anything, you can still get a scholarship for it, right? besides, you can be like those super-intellectuals and have four majors and four minors or something :) freakn nuts haha
daang your piano lessons were so expensive! was she/he a good teacher though?
i think i had 3 or 4 different piano teachers. my last one was so hxc, she made me cry ALL THE TIME :( and she kept raising prices, and it was just a flat rate per month... so if she was all "i have a conflict so there's no lesson this week" then we still had to pay the same price. @_@ ridiculoso.
college plans for music... i'm seriously considering ou, but i'm quite sure i'm super-biased because that's where my boyfriend's going. my college views are so clouded by that. but he's majoring in music too.. education specifically. i'm not very good at teaching, but i'll probably end up doing that if i can't get into a good symphony. he's fsure one of the most dedicated people i know in that area.
so what are you thinking about studying in college if music's your minor?
haha i'll just reply really fast as well since i happened to see your comment before logging offf
but OMGOSH you're superly musically talented. i wish i had that kind of motivation, but sometimes i dont even practice flute -_-
im not in my schools band/orchestra cause it seriously sucks beyond words. like, you get looked down on if you're in the music department. which no one is other than the noobs. and the freshmen.
eh, im really not suited to walk the music major's path, but i think i will be doing a minor in it :) i'm kind of doubtful with that, but i'll see how that turns out when i get to college. speaking of which, i only applied to UC's and 1 private. so much cheaper since i live in california, so nothing special!
so you dont really work with a teacher for piano huh? i actually tried doing that too (being independent). but its really harder than i thought haha. it would save a lot of money though...$90/hr lessons aosijdfaosifja'fj
any college plans for music?
i don't think my school is ever going to get a recording of what we played 2 days ago (texas association of school administrator's conference)... the acoustics in that room were crap anyway. however, when we do uil i think our conductor will give us all recordings (we're doing jupiter, capriccio espagnol [rimsky-korsakov], and tchaik andante cantabile]. that's probably march/april-ish though.
... i actually kind of hate the whole repertoire. especially holst, i can't stand him.
our orchestra isn't that good (esp this year.. actually, we're bad. and i'm not just saying that, and i could talk about this forever...), but when i get the uil recordings i can send you them anyway. /shrug
do you have any colleges/conservatories in mind?
cello, i've been going for 5years+... i'd like to change teachers since mine is extremely lenient and we don't do technique a lot, but he's like my grandfather.. i'm not sure what i'm doing about that.
piano, i've been... 9ish years? i stopped a while ago to focus on cello, and that's my biggest regret. nowadays i just buy books, go through them, and get a friend to record it for me to see how it matches up with others. i only do serious recording on cello as it's my main instrument.. but i love piano so much more.
i had a couple organ lessons and decided it wasn't for me, so i just tinker around :P
choir i did for about 11 years, and for the last year or so i spent most of rehearsal taking out kids and teaching them... the director eventually just started using me as private teacher and i hated it. i had voice lessons with a friend of a friend for about a year, but i couldn't keep up with all the music/work/school so i stopped. i love it though.
mm it's kinda late and i have bogus to do a couple hours off haha.
TTYLZZSD practice hard! :)
ive been playing for 8 years, but i had a pretty crappy teacher for about 2 years, so i started sucking around sophomore year. now that i have a really professional teacher, im trying to get back so that i can maybe audition for some stuff in college next year.
haha i used to play piccolo. yeah, it kinda sucked. i remember in symphony, when i had a part right next to 3 piccolos for a super high piece. we ended up using earplugs for practices/concerts.
whoa jupiter? do you have a recording? i love that piece (:
how bout you? how long have you been playing for each instrument?
and yes i play cello, but i'm pretty sure piano is the way the truth and the life for me
aw well, anything 1337sauce if you're good. flutes aren't all annoying anyway. my least favorite instruments in band are probably piccolo and english horn, but i'm super-biased against english horn atm since our clarinet kid had to learn english horn in two weeks to play the solo in jupiter and totally botched our concert two days ago. siigh. piccolo just came in early, but i just think piccolo is ear-blast lol
whoaa super-long comment? haha
how long have you been playing flute?
hehe i actually dont play piano. i did for like, 2 years in the 2nd grade. im a flutist :> yes, i know, we are just so annoying. you play cello right? i tried learning when my sister started, but flutists can only read treble clef so...:/ i lose.
the best. fshizzles
actually i'm doing czerny school of velocity stuff right now lol.
